Speed Mentoring - Student Event
EVENT CANCELLED! LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE FEBRUARY EVENT. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
On November 25, 2009 the CWC is hosting a Speed Mentoring Event for students in communications. At the Fireside Room at Mount Royal University, students will gather to learn what they can from professionals in the industry. Set up similar to speed dating, a professional will be at a table with a number of students for a limited amount of time. Questions may be provided to help conversation but students are encouraged to ask about anything that is of interest to them. When time runs out, students will then rotate to a new table with a new professional. This way the event is refreshed and students and professionals stay engaged. Time will also be given for casual mingling. These types of events are incredibly valuable to students as they get an open opportunity to voice concerns or questions and get responses from respectable and successful individuals. This event also gives students a chance to network and make connections with people of importance in the communication industry, while professionals get a chance to meet their future peers. The event runs from 6 – 8 pm and food and refreshments will be provided.
We are welcoming four professionals from a variety of communication professions.

MORE ABOUT OUR PROFESSIONALS:
Sue Madsen
Sue Madsen has over 10 years of experience in marketing, from traditional
print and advertising to e-marketing and web development. She is currently
Marketing and Communications Strategist at Mount Royal University
Continuing Education.
Pam Taylor
My first real job was with FWJ, a legendary PR firm based out of Calgary
and a training ground for many of Calgary's top public relations
specialists. With the skills I acquired along the way, I moved on to other
with gigs at ad agencies working with some of the best known and highly
regarded companies in North America including Bell, McDonalds, and General
Mills. Then I decided to go to what the agency world refers to "The Dark
Side" – the client side of marketing. The last few years were with Shaw
Communications and now I'm working with the Calgary Stampede - immersing
myself in western culture and helping to promote one of the world's most
famous 10-day festivals. I've had a life-long love affair with all things
marketing and media-related. You'll often find me at a movie, in a
bookstore, reading a magazine, watching HBO, writing a story, snapping a photograph or taking part in one of the many other great creative
activities involved in this wonderful and challenging field of marketing.
Wendy Peters
Wendy believes in building her life around what she is passionate about.
Captivated by technology and online initiatives, Wendy has found one of
her passions in web communications, specifically in social media. The
connections and opportunities that come from online interactions are
endless. Wendy graduated from the University of Alberta in 2005 with a
Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and completed her Web
Design Certificate through the University of Calgary in 2008. She has
been building and maintaining websites for small and large companies in
Alberta for the last 5 years. Having built her life around the activities and areas she loves, Wendy works around the clock, but is never actually working. Her time is spent blogging on her personal blog, Outing My Inner Geek , and on a joint blog project about passion and inspiration, The Muse and Views , exploring new ideas and business opportunities, listening to live music or enjoying some quality time with her guitars, watching and playing Ultimate Frisbee and connecting with others who share common interests.
Pam MacPhee
Pam MacPhee is a freelance television producer/director who has produced
nationally broadcast commercials, weekly television series (The DVD Show,
Flames-TV, StarChoice TV) and the Energy-TV Awards Show with over one
