About the Webinar:
In the last few years, Canadians have become more aware of and sensitive to privacy rights. Federal and Provincial Privacy Commissioners, who play an active watchdog role, are increasingly focusing on the interaction between emerging technologies (e.g. GPS, Facebook) and privacy laws. In this session, Sacha Fraser, Senior Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at Xerox Canada Ltd. , will help demystify privacy and discuss its interplay with technology.
About Sacha Fraser
Sacha Fraser is Senior Counsel at Xerox Canada Ltd. and has been a member of the Xerox Canada legal department since 2000. Prior to that, she was a member of the litigation department at McCarthy Tetrault, having been called to the bar in Ontario in 1993. She received her L.L.B from Queen’s University in 1991 and her B.A. (Mathematics) from Queen’s University in 1988.
At Xerox Canada, Fraser provides counsel on a wide variety of areas, including commercial transactions, litigation, employment law, competition law, intellectual property and privacy. She is an active member of The Women’s Alliance at Xerox and has worked extensively on content for the TWA’s annual international conferences. She also acts as a mentor in the TWA mentoring program. Fraser co-chaired a very successful 2009 United Way campaign for Xerox Canada.
Fraser has taught several topics at Bar Admissions and has spoken at conferences on various issues. She is an active member of I.T.A.C’s Legal Affairs Forum. Fraser has also participated in not-for-profit Board and Committee work. Other memberships include Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and Canadian Women in Communications.
In 2006, Fraser undertook her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. Her certification project focused on email use at Xerox. The project team’s recommendations were successfully launched in April of 2007.
In 2009, Fraser took on the Chief Privacy Officer role. She manages a small but resourceful team that focuses on privacy compliance, awareness and training as well as internal and external customer satisfaction.
